Professor William-Andey Lazaro Anangisye

I am delighted to invite students, researchers, academicians and other interested stakeholders to the University of Dar es Salaam and its various campuses. We have more than 35,000 students of whom 5,000 are postgraduates and 300 are international. Our research programmes range across all disciplines, be it agriculture, education, humanities, engineering, health, sociology, economics or law. The University is keeping very close to a wide range of interests within Tanzania and internationally to ensure the relevance of our academic programmes and the continued excellence in teaching, research and public service.

A research paper may add to academic knowledge, but the real test of an idea can come when it leaves the pages of a journal and begins solving a problem in the real world.

That is the shift the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is seeking to accelerate by strengthening awareness and capacity in intellectual property (IP), research and innovation, with a focus on turning knowledge generated at the University into protected innovations, viable products and solutions that benefit society.
