The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Dr. Francis Michael during the commemoration of UDSM 60 years and 17th DUCE anniversary urged academicians and other stakeholders to conduct researches that address challenges facing people.

This event took place on 19th October 2022 held at DUCE grounds and attracted many academicians.

Commenting on how to mitigate the problem of unemployment, Dr. Michael said that concerted efforts are required to enable Higher Learning Institutions implement the competence based education.  

…We should come up with specific programmes that will impart skills to students to the extent that upon completion of studies, they will be able to engage in self-employment… He said.     

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Dar es Salaam, Prof. William Anangisye insisted that since the country faces the problem of shortage of Science teachers, DUCE should continue preparing conducive environment for such teachers. He said most of competitive Science teachers are DUCE products, who are doing commendable job wherever they work.

In the same manner, the College Principal, Prof. Stephen Oswald Maluka highlighted a number of achievements of the College including increased intake capacity and graduates, which implies that people have developed trust with education standards offered.
