Dr. Biteko took part in the 5 kilometre race and expressed his steadfast support for the initiative. In his address following the race, he affirmed his commitment to championing the construction of the Student Centre. "I will be a key advocate for this project and will defend all efforts aimed at realizing it," he stated.
He further emphasised the government’s recognition of the project, highlighting its importance in enhancing the learning environment and overall student experience. Dr. Biteko reassured the UDSM Chancellor, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and attendees that the government would honour its commitment to contribute to the project and encourage additional support from other stakeholders.
The marathon attracted participants from diverse groups, including students, staff, and external stakeholders such as the Dar es Salaam College of Education. Runners competed in three categories: 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres, and 21 kilometres. Winners from each category were awarded prizes and medals in a ceremony that celebrated their athleticism and contribution to this noble cause.
