The Assistant Coordinator of HEET project from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST), Dr. Evaristo Mtitu, recently visited the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) to assess progress of the ongoing construction and rehabilitation initiatives under the HEET project.

The visit involved a meeting between the College Management and the contractors, during which Dr. Mtitu emphasised the importance of regular meetings to monitor project progress, address challenges, and identify areas for improvement. He stressed that the construction site must adhere to stipulated standards, particularly by maintaining adequate and qualified workforce.

Dr. Mtitu also outlined essential requirements for the site, which included the display of blueprints of the intended buildings to ensure transparency, the provision of protective gear for workers, access to clean and safe water, proper waste storage facilities, and the installation of a suggestion box for feedback.

In his address, the College Principal, Prof. Stephen Maluka reiterated the significance of compliance with contractual obligations to facilitate the smooth execution of the project. He urged both the contractor and the consultant to uphold their responsibilities as outlined in the contract agreement.

Additionally, the HEET Project Coordinator at DUCE, Prof. Method Semiono, highlighted the need for the contractor to formally submit any project-related documents required by auditors, ensuring accountability and transparency throughout the project’s lifecycle.

This visit reinforced the commitment of MoEST and DUCE to achieving the goals of the HEET project, aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of higher education institutions to support quality education and economic transformation.
