The General Manager of Tanzania Cigarette Company Ltd (TCC), Mr. Takeshi Araki and his delegates paid a visit to DUCE on 13th April 2023, and donated assistive devices for students with special needs.
Speaking during a brief hand-over ceremony, Mr. Araki said the devices are potential for assisting special education students to enhance teaching and learning process.
He further insisted that with inclusion mode, the devices provide students with equal opportunity to participate in the same types of programmes and activities.
The donated devices included two smart TVs, ten tablets, 10 laptops, 10 voice recorders, 10 white canes, 10 pairs of crutches, twenty boxes of bailer papers, and 20 boxes of cut-sheet braille’s papers.
In response, the Deputy Principal (Planning, Finance and Administration), Prof. Method Samwel expressed his heartfelt appreciations to TCC Ltd for their support, and ensured that the devices will be handled with care.
Recently, concerted efforts have been made to empower students with special needs in the country. For example, through HEET project, students with special needs are accommodated with facilities to support inclusion and equitable environments
