At the end of 2022, the DUCE project team was commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, under the Zanzibar Institute of Education (ZIE), to develop teaching and learning materials for Standard One in Zanzibar.

On 23rd July 2024, DUCE held a brief book handover ceremony to mark the successful completion of an educational initiative aimed at enhancing the learning experience for primary school students in Zanzibar. The event was attended by the DUCE College Management, the project team, and several College officials.

The writing team leader, Dr. Josta Nzilano stated stated that the team included six experts from DUCE, along with a few additional specialists who contributed to Islamic religious studies, sports, typesetting, and artwork. He noted that the entire project took five months, from October 2022 to March 2023.

The Director of the Public Service and Outreach Programmes, Dr. Lilian Mulamula noted that the books have already been published and are now being used by primary school pupils in Zanzibar. She expressed ZIE's appreciation for the work that has been accomplished.

Speaking at the event, the College Principal, Prof. Maluka, thanked the project team for their commitment. He noted that the project not only provided substantial financial benefits to the College but also set the stage for future partnerships and opportunities.
