The teaching of postgraduate students at DUCE goes online effective this semester following special training of postgraduate teachers on online facilitation at the College.

The Principal of CoICT of the University of Dar es Salaam, Dr. Mussa Kissaka, who led the team of trainers said that all postgraduate courses will be offered via UDSM Learning Management System (LMS) and the plan was underway to implement the policy in undergraduate courses.

‘In the wake of efforts to mitigate spread of Coronavirus the use of blended mode of teaching provides a viable option,’ explained Dr. Kissaka who was accompanied by two facilitators - Dr. Christina Raphael and Mr. Bugota Saganda.

Mr. Saganda who doubles as the Center for Virtual Learning (CVL) Multimedia Producer said that instructors are required to learn how to use the LMS – Moodle, which has been in use at the University since 2005.

Dr. Raphael explained that the UDSM LMS allows students to view lectures, download course materials, take quizzes an submit assignments online.‘Using the LMS learning continues unabated regardless of time and space,’ said Dr. Raphael adding that the blended learning mode is useful since students can track the teaching at their own pace.
