The Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) kicked off its ninth annual Research and Innovation Week with great fanfare on April 17th, 2024. This event was held at DUCE grounds featuring a theme ‘Fostering Research and Innovation through University-Industry Partnerships’. The event which brought together researchers, students, and partners from various sectors was officially opened by the College Principal, Prof. Stephen Oswald Maluka.

In his brief note, the Director of Research and Innovation, Prof. Amani Lusekelo, outlined the various activities planned for the week. He said the event will involve the opening ceremony, interactive presentations and exciting exhibitions. He also announced the categories for the research competition and the associated awards to winners.

During the ceremony, the College Principal, Prof. Stephen Maluka, highlighted the impact of research and innovation on our lives. Prof. Maluka stressed how research sparks creativity, expands our knowledge, resolves real-world problems and drives human and economic development. He also emphasized DUCE's commitment to fostering strong partnerships between academia and industry for positive change.

Correspondingly, Dr. Lilian Mulamula, representing the Deputy Principal – academic, research and consultancy acknowledged the role of research in driving social and economic growth. She applauded DUCE's dedication to supporting researchers and innovators.

In essence, the Research and Innovation Week is a platform for sharing ideas, building connections and inspiring change. During the event, DUCE community come together to explore ground-breaking projects and exchange insights. The event becomes a beacon of hope for undertaking challenges and making a difference.
