On May 20th, 2024, DUCE staff members participated in the second training session on the new performance management system; namely, the Public Employees Performance Management Information System (PEPMIS). The previous training took place on December 8th, 2023.

This training was facilitated by Ms. Noela Jonathan Mziray, a representative from the President’s Office - Public Service Management and Good Governance. Ms. Mziray was accompanied by Prof. Stephen Maluka, DUCE Principal; Dr. Christina Raphael, the Deputy Principal (Academic Research and Consultancy); Prof. Method Samwel, the Deputy Principal (Planning, Finance and Administration); and the Director of Administration and Human Resource Management, Ms. Maria Mdee.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Maluka requested staff members to share challenges they had encountered while using the new systems, emphasizing that the facilitator had been brought to address their concerns. The participants responded positively, asking numerous questions and receiving clarifications from both the facilitator and the Management team. Many of the queries were centered on difficulties encountered on uploading activities performed into the management system.

In his closing speech, Prof. Maluka urged all staff to continue using the new system despite challenges, noting that the government is committed to improve the system, thereby making performance evaluations more effective.
