On enhancing Institutional collaboration, fourteen MEd. Curriculum Studies (MEd CS) students accompanied by Dr. Timothy Venance, their lecturer from DUCE, had a three day workshop at TIE from 26th to 28th July 2021. The workshop was facilitated by TIE curriculum developers who had different expertise.

The workshop was officially opened by Mr. Elias Kabate, a curriculum developer at TIE on behalf of the Executive Director. The workshop was coordinated by TIE staff, Mr. Benjamin Mbezi.

The workshop aimed at equipping MEd. CS students to learn practically how TIE develops the educational curricular in Tanzania. The workshop involved presentations, plenary discussions, exhibitions, preparations and dissemination of curriculum materials. The MEd. CS students also had an opportunity to visit TIE resource center where they were able to observe a specialized library.

The TIE Human Resource Officer, Mr. Elias Kabate who represented the Education and Training Director urged the participants to use effectively the knowledge received in their work places. He invited other Higher Learning Institutions which offer teaching programmes to bring their students so that they acquire valuable skills that will help them implement the curricular in Tanzania.

Furthermore, Mr. Respicius Andrew on behalf of his colleagues (MEd. CS students) expressed his gratitude to TIE for the skills they had acquired from the training. In addition, the Coordinator of these trainings, Mr. Benjamin Mbezi said that they will continue to provide different trainings for the purpose of enriching teachers with skills as this will contribute to the provision of quality education in different levels of education in the country.

This workshop had some benefits to MEd. CS students and DUCE in general. The students had an opportunity to learn the process of curriculum development practically, and discuss with the curriculum developers the process of curriculum development. Consequently, MEd. CS students received a training package, including materials and access to TIE online libraries.

Besides, TIE acknowledged the contribution given by the workshop participants. The visit was perceived as one of the formal opinions of curriculum reforms for secondary education that TIE is recently conducting. Finally, the parties informally agreed to collaborate on the matters concerning curricular development in the country.
