The National Week of Education, Skills, and Innovation was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST). These exhibitions were held from 25th to 31st May, 2024 at Popatlal Secondary School Grounds in Tanga Region

The event involved collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST), the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) as well as the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Exhibitions, coordinated by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).

At the event, DUCE was represented by the Director of research and innovation, Prof. Amani Lusekelo, two innovators, namely, Dr. Lucas and Kalua Polikarpo (DUCE student), and the marketing officer, Mr.  Linus John. In this exhibition week, Mr. Kalua Polikarpo showcased the automated water monitoring system, while Dr. Lucas Luchemba demonstrated how to convert domestic and agro-waste into nutritious animal feeds. Meanwhile, the Marketing Officer, Mr. Linus John provided visitors with information about the College’s programmes and services.

The inauguration ceremony of these exhibitions was officiated by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adolph Mkenda on 27th May 2024. Similarly, the climax of this year’s National Week of Education, Skills and Innovation was graced by the Prime Minister, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa on May 31st, 2024. Addressing the audience, Hon. Majaliwa said the government aims to establish innovation and skills development units in all districts to support young talented Tanzanians and stimulate economic growth.

"Innovation and skills development is an important vehicle which can help the country achieve its development vision. We want to give our talented youth opportunities to be mentored and shaped professionally in order to lessen the challenge of unemployment and boost national economy…" He said.

Education, skills and innovation for learners are fundamental abilities that empower individuals to navigate a swiftly evolving world. Therefore, DUCE's participation in the National Week of Education, Skills and Innovation marked significant achievements and valuable contributions to the fields of education and innovation. Furthermore, these fundamental elements play a pivotal role in showcasing and promoting the country’s valuable technologies and innovations.
