A team of women from DUCE joined with Umoja wa Wanawake Tanzania (UWT) to congratulate President Dr. Samia for two years leadership at a well-attended event, staged at Uhuru stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking recently on behalf of the team, Dr. Ikupa Moses said in two years, one of the notable efforts made by President Samia in education is classrooms constructions in schools. She said, the President has vowed that no pupil will sit on the ground. She further said, President Samia has assured that no single student will miss out an opportunity to join ordinary level studies due to the lack of classrooms.

Moreover, the team supports the enduring efforts made by the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. For instance, the government is implementing Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project in collaboration with the World Bank, aiming at improving and transforming Higher Education in Tanzania, thereby enabling Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to contribute to the Nation’s Economic Transformation. The project is expected to promote education standards to 14 Higher education institutions in Tanzania including the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE).

Similarly, the team lauded President Samia for increasing students’ meals and accommodation allowances from Tsh. 8,500/- to Tsh. 10,000/- per day.

Nelson Mandela once said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” An educated population is important in building a nation’s economy. National economic growth begins with individual economic growth, which is often linked back to education.
