Dr. Alexander Elias Songoro is a lecturer in the Department of Geography and Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam, DUCE campus. He holds a Doctor of Natural Sciences (Doctor rerum naturalium –Dr. rer.nat) from the Justus –Liebig –University, Germany and a Master of Science in Natural Resources Assessment and Management from the University of Dar es Salaam. His teaching and research interests include governance of land resources, land grabbing, climate change, impact assessment (EIA, SIA and SEA), rural livelihoods, social inclusions, land tenure, land use planning, resettlement, environmental conservation, human environmental relations, ecosystems assessment and biodiversity assessment and survey. Dr. Songoro also has a wide international experience in supporting development projects particularly those financed with the World Bank. He has provided technical advice to the government and the World Bank, and has extensive experience of integrating social and environmental agenda into development projects. Among of the national projects which he has provided technical support include Tanzania Land Tenure Improvement Project (TLTIP), Tanzania Reproductive Maternal Neonatal and Adolescent Health, Tanzania Rural Transport Program Roads to Inclusion and Socioeconomic (RISE), Energy Program for Results -Tanzania Rural Electrification Expansion Project (TREEP), Dar es Salam Metropolitan Development Project (DMDP), Tanzania - Zambia Transmission Interconnector (TZTI), Lake Tanganyika Transport Program (LTTP),  Second Water Sector Support Project (SWSSP), Tanzania Strategic Cities Project (TSCP), Tanzania Public Private Partnership Support Program (TPPP), and Africa Environmental Health and Pollution Management Project a regional  project which involves five countries of Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Senegal).
