Eng. Dr. Simon I. Marandu is an Academician and a Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer by the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania (ERB) and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET). He has Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in Production  Engineering  from  the  University  of Dar es Salaam and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering  specializing  in  Mechatronics Systems from the Newcastle University, United Kingdom. Eng. Dr. Marandu has lectured and researched  at  the University  of  Dar es Salaam since 2007 in Mechanical, Automation and Manufacturing engineering. Apart from lecturing,

Profile: Eng. Dr. Marandu is a Consultant in Mechanical, Automation, Manufacturing and Industrial Systems Engineering with notable companies and organizations such as Tanzania Cigarette PLC, Tanga Cement Company Limited, Tanzania Biotech  Company  Limited,  National Identification Authority (NIDA), Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) and TANESCO. From 2015 to 2018, Eng. Dr. Marandu, coordinated the Industrial Training Office for CoET, where he spearheaded development of an Online platform for managing Practical Training processes, currently in use.  From 2019, Eng. Dr. Marandu doubles as the Manager of the Technology Development and Transfer Centre (TDTC) of the University of Dar es Salaam, in charge  of  transforming  technological  research and innovation outputs into prototypes and products.
