Department of Educational Foundations, Management and Lifelong Learning

The department of Educational Foundations, Management and Lifelong Learning (EFMLL) is one of the three departments that constitute the School of Education at UDSM. Others are the Department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies (EPCS); and the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (PESS). EFMLL is a combination three units, namely Educational Management, Educational Foundations as well as Adult and Community Education. These units are a reflection of the degree programmes that EFMLL offers and areas of research that academics engage in. In line with UDSM functions, EFMLL is a home of consultants in the philosophy of education, sociology of education, educational policies and planning, leadership and management of resources. Further, experts in the department are experienced consultants in adult learning and community development

Transforming Knowledge into Impact

Through its academic programmes, research, professional development initiatives, and consultancy engagements, EFMLL connects knowledge, innovation, and practice to address real-world challenges in education and community development.

The Department provides a platform for students, educators, policymakers, development practitioners, institutions, and organisations to access expertise that supports effective decision-making, institutional transformation, capacity development, and sustainable community outcomes.
