Biography

Ms. Hilda Samwel Mpangala is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Aquaculture Technology at the School of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Technology, University of Dar es Salaam. She holds a Master’s degree in Aquatic Sciences and a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture, both from the University of Dar es Salaam. 

Her academic and research work focuses on gender inclusion in fisheries and aquaculture, fisheries resource management, aquaculture extension education, and the socio-economic dimensions of fisheries governance. She has experience in socio-economic and extension-oriented research. Her Master’s research examined gender dynamics in informal cross-border fish trade, emphasizing women’s inclusion, economic contributions, and challenges along fish trade networks.

Ms. Mpangala is a committed academic and researcher who contributes her knowledge and expertise to promoting inclusive fisheries governance, strengthening extension services, enhancing sustainable fisheries resource management, and improving coastal livelihoods through community-based resource management systems.
