Biography

Dr. Paschal Simon Milindi is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He holds a PhD in Energy and Environment from the City University of Hong Kong, where his doctoral research focused on advancing sustainable practices within food systems through a life cycle assessment approach. This research highlights the complex relationships between food waste, energy consumption, water usage, and carbon emissions.

Dr. Milindi's academic foundation includes a Master’s degree in Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Sokoine University of Agriculture. In his current role at the University of Dar es Salaam, he teaches and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students, coordinates undergraduate studies, oversees admissions, and enhances the overall academic experience for students.

Previously, Dr. Milindi served as a teaching assistant at City University of Hong Kong, where he supported courses in sustainable energy and environmental engineering. He also worked as an Agricultural and Irrigation Engineer with the Tanzania Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Services, supervising the construction and maintenance of irrigation schemes. His efforts significantly contributed to the sustainability and livelihoods of communities in Tabora, Kigoma, and Shinyanga.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Milindi has published several peer-reviewed articles focusing on sustainability in the food industry and the nexus of food waste, energy, water, and emissions. He has presented his findings at international conferences, including the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment and the International Conference on Solid Waste, showcasing his commitment to fostering sustainable practices.
