As lecturer at UDSM, I teach, research, and undertake consultancy on entrepreneurship, innovation, and business. My PhD (2018-2024) at the University of Reading School of Agriculture, Policy and Development (UK) devised a Blockchain technology-based traceability solution for addressing the sustainable sourcing of seafood while mitigating illegal and unsustainable fishing practices. This digital solution, despite its being notional, requires investments to attain a testing phase. Its features resemble the recently launched (on 10th January 2026) European digital traceability solution for verifying seafood sustainability sourcing called CATCH.
In 2017, I attended an intensive executive education training on Rethinking Financial Inclusion at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government in the US. Here, I devised a digital solution for addressing the bankability of entrepreneurs called EMTBZA PESAMONITOR, now on PlayStore (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emtbza.pesamonitor) . This tool enables market linkages between supply and value chain actors - producers/entrepreneurs, suppliers, buyers/markets and credit/capital providers like banks. Other features of the tool include capturing business records, generation and sharing of business reports detailing financial and non-financial transactions (e.g., cashflows and stock management), electronic voting to pass/approve business decisions, electronic capture of meeting minutes, etc.
