James Manyama is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Technology at the School of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He holds a Master of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries (2021–2024) and a Bachelor of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries (2018–2021), both from the University of Dar es Salaam.
His research interests include coastal resources management, fisheries management, and fish biology, ecology, and taxonomy. James has participated in several capacity-building workshops, including a workshop on the importance of Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance (MCS) as a fisheries management tool for a sustainable blue economy in Tanzania (January 2023), and the Buyuni Women Festival, which focused on community awareness and alternative utilization of marine resources for livelihood improvement (September 2022).
He is a former Project Officer with Aqua-Farms Organisation–Tanzania (2021–2022), a community-based organization working on sustainable fisheries resource use, aquaculture, and aquatic habitat conservation. He has over three years of experience in developing programme stories, factsheets, and communication materials for donors and stakeholders, as well as preparing and implementing visibility, communication, and awareness plans tailored to coastal communities’ social, cultural, and religious contexts.
