Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering

Biography

Rahabu F. Mwang’amba received a BSc and MSc degrees in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Tanzania, in 2015 and 2022, respectively. She gained a strong foundation in antenna design techniques and advanced simulation tools, such as CST software, during her master research, where she designed an antenna with reduced mutual coupling for 5G communication systems. She explored the technique of applying a pair of directional couplers in improving antenna performance.

Her academic journey began in 2015 as a Tutorial Assistant at UDSM, where she has been engaged in conducting tutorials, practical sessions, and assisting in coordinating fundable projects. She has also participated in various professional development trainings, both locally and internationally. In 2018, she participated in an exchange program at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, deepened her understanding on challenge-driven educational approaches. Subsequently, she has practically applied these approaches to supervise student’s projects between 2019-2021. Additionally, she is a graduate engineer registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Tanzania, and is an active member of the IET Women Chapter.

Ms. Mwang’amba is currently pursuing her PhD studies at Aalborg University, Denmark, focusing on design, fabrication and measurement of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) for next generation cellular systems. Near-field radiation is a core region of investigation, and she specifically evaluates and models the impact of the human body on the focal spot.
