Biography

Digna Mlengule has academic specialization in Geography and Environmental Management. She obtained BA in Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam (2005), MA in Geography and Environmental Management at University of Dar es Salaam (2007) and PhD in Geography at the University of Dar es Salaam (2017). She attended short courses including Research Training by South Africa Netherlands in Durban and Cape Town-South Africa (Sept, 2010- Sept, 2012), Climate Proofing of Vulnerable Regions organized by North-South Network, Oldenburg University-German (2013), Training on Food Security and Climate Change Nexus organised by Centre for Climate Change Studies (UDSM, 2015), African Climate Change Ambassadors by Association of African Universities (2022) and Media Skills for Researchers by SIDA and University of Dar es Salaam (2022). Most of her research are in the area of climate change adaptation. She has researched in water resources management and climate change adaptation. She teaches Environmental Education, Environmental Natural Resource Management, Climate Change and Human Adjustment, Rural Development and Community Empowerment, Agriculture and Rural Settlements. She has supervised and examined several postgraduate students in the discipline of Geography. She has saved as coordinator in different position including fieldwork coordinator (2018, 2022 and 2023), Coordinator Undergraduate Studies (2018-2020), Postgraduate coordinator (2021 to date) in Geography Department of the College of Social Sciences at the University of Dar es Salaam.
