Prof. Makindara described the University's participation as a reflection of its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and national development.
Speaking after touring the UDSM exhibition pavilion on Friday, July 3, 2026, Prof. Makindara said the University's well-organised display, innovative technologies and diverse academic programmes demonstrated why UDSM continues to lead in higher education and research in Tanzania.
A proud UDSM alumnus who earned his degree in Financial Management from the University, he said he was impressed by the quality of the exhibition and the professionalism displayed by the institution.
"To be honest, the 2026 Trade Fair has been very impressive. Our colleagues at the University of Dar es Salaam have prepared exceptionally well. I believe this year's exhibition will be even more successful than in previous years, especially as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair," said Prof. Makindara.
He noted that UDSM continues to distinguish itself by developing academic programmes that respond to the changing needs of the labour market while strengthening the link between teaching, research, innovation and industry.
According to him, the University's continued investment in knowledge generation and practical solutions reinforces its position as one of Tanzania's leading institutions of higher learning.
Receiving the delegation, UDSM officials thanked Prof. Makindara for visiting the pavilion and reaffirmed the University's commitment to producing graduates, research and innovations that contribute to Tanzania's socio-economic development.
They noted that the Trade Fair provides an important platform for engaging prospective students, industry stakeholders, development partners and the wider public while showcasing the University's research breakthroughs, consultancy services, technologies and community outreach initiatives.
This year's exhibition holds special significance as it marks the golden jubilee of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, a landmark event that has promoted trade, investment and industrial development in Tanzania for five decades.
The 2026 edition was officially inaugurated on July 3 by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, alongside the President of the Republic of Mozambique, H.E. Daniel Chapo, underscoring the Fair's growing regional role in advancing economic cooperation, innovation and cross-border trade.
Throughout the exhibition, the University of Dar es Salaam continues to demonstrate how its teaching, research and innovation ecosystem is generating practical solutions to national and global challenges while advancing Tanzania's vision of building a competitive, knowledge-based and digital economy.
