UDSM Commends Staff and Students for Outstanding Performance at the 50th DITF

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Prof. William A.L. Anangisye, has commended members of staff and students who represented the University at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) for their exceptional commitment, teamwork and professionalism, saying their efforts played a pivotal role in enhancing the University's visibility and public engagement.
Speaking during a certificate award ceremony held in appreciation of the exhibition team, Prof. Anangisye said the University's impressive performance at Sabasaba was the result of collective effort by staff and students who worked tirelessly to showcase UDSM's research excellence, innovations and community services.
“The success we celebrate today belongs to you. While the University's leadership provides direction, it is your dedication, hard work and professionalism that translate our vision into tangible results. You represented UDSM with distinction, and for that, we are truly grateful," said Prof. Anangisye.
Throughout the two-week exhibition, UDSM showcased cutting-edge research, technological innovations and academic programmes while offering a range of community services, including admissions guidance for prospective students applying for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Thousands of visitors were able to interact directly with researchers, academic staff and students, gaining first-hand knowledge of the University's contribution to national development.
The Vice Chancellor said the exhibition demonstrated the University's growing commitment to ensuring that knowledge generated through teaching, research and innovation addresses societal needs while strengthening partnerships with industry, government and the wider community.
Prof. Anangisye also emphasized the importance of institutional unity, calling on staff and students across all UDSM campuses—including the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), the Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE), the Mbeya University College of Health and Allied Sciences (MUCHAS), the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) Zanzibar and the Mineral Resource Institute (MRI), Dodoma, to continue working as one team.
"Regardless of where we serve, we are one University with one mission. Our strength lies in collaboration, mutual support and our shared commitment to excellence. When we work together, we amplify UDSM's impact and reputation,"he said.
Commitment and professionalism
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Prof. Rose Upor, congratulated the participants for their commitment and professionalism, noting that their interaction with the public reflected the University's values of service, innovation and academic excellence.
“You became the face of the University during the exhibition. The professionalism you demonstrated and the way you engaged with visitors strengthened public confidence in UDSM and its transformative role in society,"she said.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research, Prof. Boniface Nelson, echoed the sentiments, saying the exhibition had provided an important platform for translating research into practical solutions while showcasing the University's growing innovation ecosystem.
“Research creates the greatest value when it reaches people and responds to real-life challenges. The commitment shown by our staff and students helped demonstrate that UDSM is producing knowledge and innovations that contribute directly to national development,"he said.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to staff and students in recognition of their outstanding service during the exhibition. University leaders expressed confidence that the recognition would inspire continued excellence and reinforce UDSM's reputation as a leading institution in teaching, research, innovation and public engagement.
