Dr. Mukono joins the Editorial Board of SAGE Journal of Environment and Planning E
The University of Dar es Salaam sociology Scholar, Dr. Danstan Mukono, has been appointed member of the editorial board of SAGE Journal of Environment and Planning E: Nature and Space, effective from April 1, 2025.
According to the appointment information from the Journal editors – Lyla Mehta, Sharlene Mollett, Emily Yeh, and Mara Miele – Dr. Mukono who is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, College of Social Sciences, will serve in the board for a period of three years.
“As a reminder, the principal responsibility of members of our Editorial Advisory Board is to periodically assist the editors with reviews of manuscripts. We expect that each board member will review roughly three papers per year”, stated the appointment information.
The information further stated that Board members, including Dr. Mukono, will recommend the journal to potential authors, especially early-career researchers and those that have traditionally been under-represented in the pages of EPE; “and not least, we welcome your own contributions to the journal as an author”.
Advancing critical environmental, climate change and social research
Expressing his gratitude for the appointment, Dr. Mukono said he was truly honoured and delighted to join the editorial board of such a prestigious journal.
“This opportunity not only allows me to contribute to advancing critical environmental, climate change and social research but also support emerging scholars in getting their work recognized. I am thankful to the editorial team for their trust in me, and I look forward to actively engaging in this role”, said Dr. Mukono.
Environment and Planning E: Nature and Space is an interdisciplinary journal of nature-society scholarship. The journal welcomes theoretically robust, empirically rich research from an array of fields including political ecology, environmental justice, science and technology studies, conservation and the environmental humanities.
Dr. Mukono adds into the list of other University of Dar es Salaam scholars who were recently appointed as editors for various International Journals namely Prof. Elgidius Ichumbaki (Taylor & Francis Journal of Heritage and Society),Dr. Samwel Limbu (Taylor & Francis Journal of Applied Aquaculture); and Dr. Salvatory Nyanto (African History Review).
