I have carried out to assess factors affecting participation of special groups in public procurement in Tanzania, focusing specifically on the Kinondoni Municipal Council. The specific objectives were to assess the extent to which individual awareness affect participation of special groups in public procurement at the Kinondoni Municipal Council, to assess the extent to which regulatory framework affect participation of special groups in public procurement at the Kinondoni Municipal Council and to assess the extent to which financial resources affect participation of special groups in public procurement at the Kinondoni Municipal Council.
The study used descriptive research design where simple random sampling technique was used to select members of sample size who were 134 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaire while data were analysed using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.
The study found that individual awareness has a statistically significant influence on participation with (p-value) of .034 while the significance level for regulatory framework variable is .014, showing that the regulatory framework is a statistically significant predictor of special group participation. The study also showed that financial factors have the highest unstandardized coefficient (B) of 0.659, significance level is .000, making financial factors the most statistically significant predictor in the model.
The study concludes that there is significant relationship between regulatory individual awareness, regulatory framework and financial factors and participation of special groups. The study recommends that is essential to establish training programs that focus on developing procurement knowledge and skills among these groups. Such programs should not only cover procurement procedures but also provide insights into strategies for successful bidding, compliance requirements, and post-award management.
I have carried out to assess influence of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) on effectiveness of pharmaceutical inventory control and
management. The specific objectives of the study were ro establish the extent of
usage of ICT systems in inventory management at MSD in Dar es salaam, to evaluate
challenges facing ICT and inventory control management practices at MSD in Dar es
salaam, to determine the impact of ICT used on inventory management performance
at MSD in Dar es salaam and to analyze views on the ways to improve ICT usage in
inventory management performance at MSD in Dar es salaam. The study used case
study design where as purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used
to select 133 respondents. The study used both primary data and secondary data in
which data collection methods were questionnaire and interview. Data were analyzed
using descriptive analysis with the aid of SPSS and Ms-Excel for quantitative data
while content analysis for qualitative data. Findings indicate that the level of ICT
usage is average. Also various challenges such as unreliable network, unreliable
power, low level of awareness and inadequate man power in ICT affect the use of
ICT in inventory management. ICT plays vital role in inventory management
performance at MSD and these are it enhances work efficiency, work effectiveness
and timely service delivery. The study concludes that there is influence of ICT on
effectiveness of pharmaceutical inventory control and management despite of the
aforementioned challenges. The study recommends that there is a need for the
organization to ensure that there is reliable network for effective use of ICT in
inventory management and in that regard, more fund is needed. Also there is a need
for the organization to ensure that there is reliable power for effective use of ICT in
inventory management and in that regard, more fund is needed and there is a need for
the organization to ensure that more people are trained to raise awareness of ICT
among the staff for effective use of ICT in inventory management and in that regard and
more fund is needed.
