Dr. Magreth S Dotto, Ph.D. is a lecturer in Mining Engineering at the University of Dar es Salaam. She holds a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta (2024) where she researched the influence of rock mass properties on blast-induced fragmentation. She also earned a Master’s degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta (2014) and completed her Bachelor's degree (with honors) in Mining Engineering at the University of Dar es Salaam (2009).
She has over fifteen years of mining experience in both fieldwork and academia. She has several publications in Mine planning, Equipment Selection, and Blast-Induced Fragmentation. She is a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania.
Magreth has served as Chairperson of the Mining Technical Committee under the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), (2015–2017) and as Vice-Chairperson of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET) Women Chapter (2015–2017). She is also an active member of the International Society of Explosive Engineers (ISEE) and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).
