Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies is a three-year programme aims to provide interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary training that aims to produce competent graduates with holistic knowledge and skills, able to analyse and interpret development theories and processes. It equips students with the capability to interrogate, formulate and effectively manage sustainable development plans and policies, while challenging them to be ethical, competent citizens who can create their own welfare, but also take care of the common good in promoting a developing just society. The program combines face to face teaching and online teaching (blended).
Requirements
Eligible candidate shall have obtained:
- Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), or equivalent, with passes in five approved subjects THREE of which must be at credit level, obtained prior to sitting for Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent and two principal level passes in arts (social science) subjects in the ACSEE or equivalent with total points from three subjects not below 5. Based on the following grade to point conversion scale, A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1; S=0.5
- Principal level passes in Divinity/Islamic knowledge are not counted.
- Also eligible are those who have acquired appropriate equivalent diploma of not less than second class/credit level or B average obtained from a college which is fully registered by NACTE and approved by the UDSM Senate. For diplomas that are further classified into upper- and lower-second classes, the requirement shall be an upper second class.
