Welcome Dr. Glenn Agung Hole as Visiting Professor
The University of Dar es Salaam has appointed Dr. Glenn Agung Hole as Visiting Professor at the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS), recognising his internationally acclaimed contributions to entrepreneurship, institutional economics, innovation systems, and sustainable economic development.
An Associate Professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway, Dr. Hole brings a distinctive combination of extensive executive leadership experience and academic expertise to the role. He has accumulated 28 years of executive and leadership experience across Norwegian and Nordic business and industry, complemented by six years of academic research, teaching, and international policy engagement since transitioning to higher education.
Dr. Hole is also a recognised geopolitical writer and commentator, examining the intersection of institutions, entrepreneurship, economics, and global affairs.
His research focuses on a central question of contemporary economic development: how institutional quality, entrepreneurial capacity, innovation systems, and effective governance can drive economic resilience, national competitiveness, and long-term prosperity.
A Growing Global Academic Footprint
Dr. Hole's appointment at the University of Dar es Salaam adds Tanzania to a growing portfolio of international academic appointments. He currently also serves as:
Honorary Professor, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Kazakhstan;
Distinguished Visiting Professor, Université Chrétienne de Kinshasa (UCKIN), Democratic Republic of Congo; and
Visiting Professor, Mother Teresa University, North Macedonia.
These appointments reflect his growing contribution to interdisciplinary research, academic collaboration, and cross-border knowledge exchange across Europe, Central Asia, the Balkans, and Africa.
Building a UDBS–Norway Research Partnership
The appointment builds on an existing academic collaboration between Dr. Hole and Professor Goodluck Charles of the University of Dar es Salaam. The two scholars are currently preparing a joint peer-reviewed research article examining entrepreneurship, innovation systems, and institutional development from an international perspective.
The collaboration is expected to provide a foundation for a broader and long-term partnership between the University of Dar es Salaam and the University of South-Eastern Norway. Areas of potential collaboration include joint research and publications, academic exchange, doctoral supervision, curriculum development, and capacity-building initiatives.
As a Visiting Professor, Dr. Hole will contribute to research projects, academic supervision, curriculum development, and guest lectures. He will also support the development of new international academic partnerships aimed at advancing entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable economic development in Tanzania and across East Africa.
