Important before you begin

The password-reset link is sent to the alternative email address registered against your UDSM account. You must therefore be able to open that alternative email account before starting the reset process.

The reset message is not sent to the UDSM email account whose password you are trying to reset.

For UDSM staff

Open UDSM Webmail

Go to https://webmail.udsm.ac.tz/.

Select “Forgot Password”

On the Webmail sign-in page, select Forgot Password.

Enter your UDSM email ID

Enter only the part of your UDSM email address that appears before @udsm.ac.tz.

For example, if your address is firstname.lastname@udsm.ac.tz, enter firstname.lastname.

Complete the CAPTCHA

Enter the characters shown in the CAPTCHA image.

Select “Send”

Select Send. A password-reset message will be sent to the alternative email address registered with your UDSM account.

Open your alternative email account

Open the reset message and follow the instructions to create a new password. Check the Spam or Junk folder if the message does not appear in the inbox.

For UDSM students

Open Student Mail

Go to https://studentmail.udsm.ac.tz/.

Select “Reset Password”

On the Student Mail page, select Reset Password.

Enter your UDSM email ID

Enter only the part of your student email address that appears before @student.udsm.ac.tz. Do not enter the full email address.

Complete the CAPTCHA

Enter the characters shown in the CAPTCHA image.

Select “Send”

Select Send. The reset message will be sent to the alternative email address registered with your student account.

Complete the reset from your alternative email

Open the message in your alternative email account and follow the instructions to create a new password. Check the Spam or Junk folder if necessary.

Protect your account

  • Use only a reset message that you requested yourself.
  • Do not share the reset link or your new password.
  • Use a strong password that you do not use on other services.
  • Do not send your password to the ICT Helpdesk.

If you cannot access the alternative email address

Contact the ICT Helpdesk if the registered alternative email address is incorrect, inactive or inaccessible. Include your full name, department or programme, registration number where applicable, UDSM email ID and telephone number. Do not include your password.

Need password-reset assistance?

Submit a request through the ICT Helpdesk if the reset message does not arrive, your alternative email address is unavailable or the reset link produces an error.
