For more than five years, Barrick through its Twiga Minerals partnership with the Government of Tanzania has continued to invest in the country to driving long-term, and sustainable growth. Our Tier One mines, Bulyanhulu and North Mara, remain central pillars of Tanzania’s mining industry, contributing to economic growth, local content development, and empowerment of nationals in the sector. Barrick's focus is not only on delivering world-class mining operations but also on developing world-class national skills that will participate meaningfully and influence the future of the mining industry.
As part of the long-term vision to build a highly skilled generation of mining professionals, Barrick has partnered with the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) to provide scholarship and bursary opportunities for outstanding Tanzanian students. This partnership supports undergraduate bursaries for top-performing students at the University of Dar es Salaam. The eligible students are those in second to fourth year, GPA of at least 3.8, and undertaking any of the following degree programs:
