Dr. Daniel Aloyce Msafiri Shayo

Dr. Shayo is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. From 2018 to 2024 he was the Head of the Department of Economic Law at the University of Dar es Salaam. He holds a Dr. jur (Doctor of Laws) degree and an LL.M (Master of Laws) degree from Universität Konstanz, Germany; LL.M (Master of Laws) degree and an LL.B. degree from the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr. Shayo is also a practicing advocate, a member of Tanganyika and East African Law societies.

His major areas are Company Law, Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Capital Markets Law and Competition Law. Dr. Shayo is also a member of the Cluster of Excellence: Africa Multiple“ of the University of Bayreuth.

Dr. Shayo has served in various corporate organs of the University of Dar es Salaam. Currently, he is a member of the boards of directors of two corporate organs of the University of Dar es Salaam namely the University Computing Center (UCC) and the Dar es Salaam University Press (UDP). Above all Dr. Shayo is the current Chairperson of the University of Dar es Salaam Tender Board.

Dr Shayo is also active in performing public service. He is currently a member and the vice chairperson of the Governing Council of the Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) and a Co-opted member of the Audit Committee of the Fair Competition Commission (FCC).
