Welcome to the Department of Petroleum Science and Engineering
Petroleum engineers and Petroleum Geologists are involved in all aspects of petroleum exploration and development, from reservoir identification and characterization to drilling and completion to production. Petroleum engineers are constantly finding new ways to produce oil and gas from old wells.
In the department of Petroleum Science and Engineering, we offer courses for career development in the petroleum and energy resource fields. To successful undertake the courses offered by PSE, a student should have a sound preparation of mathematics, physics, chemistry and geology. Petroleum engineers and geologists combine these fundamentals with computer programming, materials science, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics to extract hydrocarbons from conventional and unconventional reservoirs such as oil shale, tight gas sands, tar sands, offshore oil and gas fields, and more. In addition, these engineers and geologists, develop and apply new technologies to recover hydrocarbons more efficiently and economically.
