Department of Geosciences is one of the three departments constituting the School of Mines and Geosciences of the University of Dar es Salaam, established in October 2020. The other two departments of the school are the Department of Petroleum Science and Engineering and the Department of Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering. The School of Mines and Geosciences was established by merging in a manner to expand and consolidate the two departments, Department of Geology from the College of Natural and Applied Sciences and the Department of Chemical and Mining Engineering. The Department of Geosciences trains geoscientists that serves in the mineral and energy exploration industry, government institutions and agencies, and other related sectors. The department is also actively engaged in geoscientific researches and public services in various areas related to geosciences across the country.
