On-going Research

  1. Artificial breeding of catfish-All stages from broodstock striping of eggs, incubation of eggs and hatching, fry, fingerlings to grow out ponds.
  2. Losing cichlid fish biodiversity (Hybridization between native and introduced cichlid fishes)
  3. Feed formulation-suitable for catfish fingerlings using locally available materials. This involves production of house flies maggots for catfish feed using two methods; first using fish remnants and secondly using maize brans mixed with chicken eggs
  4. Important organic matter sources supporting the nutrition of marine fish in macro-tidal Pangani estuary system
  5. Do artificial light colors affect growth of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)?
  6. Effects of mixing catfish brood stocks eggs on hatchability and survival rate of catfish larvae.
  7. Potential presence of micro and meso-plastics in the processed sea food the case of Anchoviella commersonii (Dagaa mchele)
