Teaching:

Dennis participates in the teaching of the Doctor of Medicine’s programme in Medical epidemiology and the Diploma in Medical entomology.

Research:

Dennis's research activities encompass various aspects related to the new ways to improve control/prevention of infectious diseases of public health importance. He has a particular interest on mosquito-borne human diseases, neglected tropical diseases and zoonotic diseases.

Selected past research Projects

  1. Co-investigator of the Holed Net project from 2017-2018 (PMI/USAID Tanzania), which aimed to determine the effect of holes of different sizes and varying concentrations of insecticide in bednets on personal protection and community protection using Pyrethroid resistant and Pyrethroid susceptible Anopheles arabiensis as well as pyrethroid susceptible Anopheles gambiae.
  2. Lead a project between 2009 and 2012 (Welcome Trust MSc Fellowship) which aimed to assess the realistic measures of insecticide resistance and avoidance in African Malaria Vectors
  3. Co-investigator of the pilot study on sustainable management of long-lasting insecticidal nets used for Malaria prevention and control in Tanzania.
  4. Coordinated, at NIMR Tanzania, the European Union FP7 collaborative project, AvecNet from 2011-2016 (AvecNet EU), which developed and evaluated new tools for malaria vector control.
