Ms. Zamda George

Zamda George is a seasoned Public Relations, Social Marketing and Communications expert with a deep commitment to enhancing the University of Dar es Salaam's brand and community outreach. As the current Marketing, Branding, Events, and Exhibitions personnel, she has expertly guided the university's Communication and Marketing Unit in elevating brand visibility, creating cohesive marketing strategies, and managing large-scale events. Zamda's role involves crafting and implementing a brand identity that resonates with students, faculty, and the public, consistently, showcasing the university's strengths and fostering strong engagement across multiple channels.

Zamda holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising from the University of Dar es Salaam. Her extensive experience spans from her early days as a journalist and radio presenter to her position as a Tutorial Assistant at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2008. In this role, she supported interactive learning experiences, graded assignments, and organized practical training for students. These early experiences shaped her expertise in audience engagement, content creation, and public communication—a foundation she would carry forward as she moved into marketing and outreach.

Since joining the University’s Directorate of Public Services in 2016, Zamda has led impactful outreach initiatives, including developing the institution’s first brand identity manual, a pioneering effort to standardize and unify the university's branding across all communications. Her achievements include coordinating annual major events, such as Research and Innovation Weeks, Higher Learning Exhibitions, Graduation Ceremonies and the celebrated UDSM 60th Anniversary. Zamda's skills in event management is evident in her meticulous attention to detail, from coordinating logistics and managing vendors to maximizing attendance and ensuring high levels of participant engagement.

In addition to her strategic marketing roles, Zamda has cultivated a solid reputation in project management. She has overseen diverse projects, including the production of documentary films that highlight UDSM’s research impacts across Tanzania, as well as spearheading outreach efforts that bring academic expertise to communities in need. Notably, her role as Creative Supervisor for the university’s COVID-19 awareness campaign demonstrated her ability to blend creativity with critical messaging, reaching vast audiences through social media, on-campus initiatives, and online platforms.

Zamda’s commitment to professional growth is reflected in her completion of several specialized courses, including Financial Journalism with Bloomberg Media, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, Advanced Teaching Methodology, and Integrity in Research Training. These credentials enhance her approach to her work, grounding her in industry best practices and ethical standards. Her role at the University is driven by a vision to foster a cohesive, recognizable, and engaging brand that not only communicates the university’s values but also supports its mission to educate, innovate, and impact society.
