Perpetua John Urio is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations, Management, and Lifelong Learning at the Faculty of Education. Her research interests include Educational Leadership, Professional Development, Mentorship, and Gender Issues. Throughout her career, she has held various managerial roles at the university, such as Head of the Curriculum and Teaching Department at DUCE from January 2006 to July 2007, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2006 to September 2008, and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education from January to March 2008. She has also served as Gender Unit Coordinator, Gender Focal Person, and Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies. Perpetua is actively involved with the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) in reviewing curriculum programs and conducting audits. She collaborates with institutions like Michigan State University (MSU), UDSM, SUA, DUCE, and AKF to enhance partnerships and serves as the TPP-DUCE Institutional Lead. As a consultant, she provides training for school leaders, boards, and committees to improve school performance and facilitates Professional Development programs for teachers. She has also been involved in mentoring programs for girls in Lindi and currently works with youth empowerment and women economic groups in Naitolia Monduli District, conducting monitoring, evaluation, and research.
