Department of Finance

The Department of Finance is one of four teaching departments in the School, which was established in 1979. It has gained wide recognition in teaching, research and public services. The Department offers degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters and Doctoral) level that provide students with the skills necessary for success in a wide variety of finance-related careers.  The department offers two Bachelor degrees namely; Bachelor Degree in Finance with specializations in Corporate Finance, Leasing Management and Financial Markets; and Bachelor Degree in Banking and Financial Services. It offers specialization in Finance in MBA Programme. In collaboration with the Department of Accounting it offers Masters in Accounting and Finance in Oil and Gas.

 

 

The Department of Finance has 26 members of academic staff with a wide variety of interests in finance, banking, investment, microfinance, insurance, corporate finance and restructuring and many related areas. Department staff contributes frequently to research in areas of finance, through its Center for banking and Financial Services Research, Academic Journals – locally and internationally, Provision of consultancy services – individually, and thought he University managed consultancy bureaus. Members of the academic staff have been serving on various private and government boards and committees; and being engaged in many different professional activities.
