Current Summarised CV: | My name is Dominicus Zimanimoto Makukula. I am a Lecturer at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. I hold a Diploma in Fine Arts and Theatre (Bagamoyo College of Art), BA in Fine and Performing Arts (University of Dar es Salaam), MA in Mass Communication with a bias towards Visual Communication (SJMC/University of Dar es Salaam), and a Ph.D. in African Art History and Cultural Studies (Free University of Berlin). At the School, I specialize in the teaching of visual arts-related courses such as Visual Communication, Advertising Production, and Mass Media and Popular Culture. Because of my specialization and training background in African art and its history, I work as an Artist, African art curator, educator and researcher. My overall goal is to become one of the leading African art historians and researchers from Africa generally and East Africa particularly. Presently, I am engaged in several African art projects and research on Tanzanian art practices for scholarly publication. I have published in peer reviewed journals. Already my doctoral research and publication is a manifestation of my professional endeavor and leaning as I have collected, assembled a comprehensive narrative of visual art development in Tanzania from 1961 to 2015, a feat that is foundational and a milestone in Tanzania’s otherwise neglected field of art history. I desire to extend academic co-operation in exchanges, art research, and publications with experts and art-lovers from various parts the world as part of the universalization of the particular for globalized knowledge. |
