The Directorate of Internationalization, Convocation and Advancement (DICA) is organizing “Tanzania Unforgettable” tours for University of Dar es Salaam International Students to different destinations at the end of each academic semester. The main objective of organizing these strategic and exciting and tours is to promote Tanzanian tourism potentials in a bid to lure more foreign students and create greater global awareness and appreciation.
The University of Dar es Salaam envisages itself to become a world-class University. One of the strategies to achieve this vision is through internationalization of both its academic and research affairs. In achieving the above strategy, the University is fostering international mobility through hosting full-time, occasional and short term exchange students, scholars and researchers.
As a phenomenon of International students grows in a fast pace, it is quite clear that attractive destinations in the host country have great influence. Destination image is one of the biggest factors in the students’ decision of where to go for exchange programs or full programmes education. Foreign students take advantage of the opportunity to travel in the destination city and country while studying abroad. Travel destination for them is not only the city or town their University is placed in but a far larger area.
Therefore, by being one of the most beautiful countries in the world, inhabited by friendly and warm-hearted people, Tanzania has a great potential to attract a good number of international students and researchers.
For the 2019/2020 academic year, DICA organized a three days tour to Zanzibar – a paradise island which is famous for its history and beaches. At the end of the 2nd Semester in September 2020, DICA plans to hold a four days tour for International Students to top-rated tourist attractions in Tanzania, three of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa namely, Mount Kilimanjaro, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation area.
