Semester Study Abroad

As part of their studies at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), students can apply for a semester exchange or winter/summer school opportunity at one of our partner universities. Students can also apply independent summer schools and short term academic courses hosted by non-partner universities during the summer or winter of the northern or southern hemisphere.

Consider adding some international experience to your degree! University of Dar es Salaam offers exchange opportunities with partner institutions in more than 25 countries around the globe. An exchange programme allows you to attend a university abroad while paying UDSM tuition and earning credit toward your UDSM degree.

Why should you consider an exchange? Your time abroad will allow you to:

  • Gain in-depth knowledge and experience of another culture;
  • Experience your academic subject or worldview through a new lens;
  • Challenge yourself by developing flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to new circumstances;
  • Develop transnational competencies, cross-cultural communication skills, and analytical skills of value to future employers.
  • Enhance your employment opportunities
  • Expand your professional horizon

Who is eligible to apply for an exchange opportunity?

To be considered academically eligible to apply for an exchange, undergraduate students should be maintaining an average of B or above. Graduate students who do not take course work will be assessed independently. If you do not fulfill this minimum academic requirement, your application will not be considered.

Postgraduate students: can apply for an exchange during their Masters or Ph.D. degrees.

UDSM students on study-abroad prpgrammes shall be allowed to transfer credits obtained from the other Universities to UDSM.

Procedures on how to apply for study abroad programmes will be provided on a regular basis through official communication channels including UDSM Internationalization webpage.
