UNIVERSITY OF DAR ES SALAAM
INTERNATIONALIZATION (INTERNATIONALIZATION)

Exchange Overview

Academic exchanges provide a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth, enriching not only the lives of the participants but the entire UDSM community, which will share in the learning.

UDSM facilitates and manages a large number of inter-institutional agreements, many of which provide for the mobility of their students and staff to UDSM. However, UDSM receives a good number of students who come to spend a semester or two from non-partner universities/colleges.

Exchange students are in three main categories:

  • Short-term Students
  • Occasional Students
  • Visiting Students

A short-term student is one, the duration of whose studentship at the University of Dar es Salaam is one academic year and who is not registered for the certificate, diploma or degree course of the University.

An occasional student is one, the duration of whose studentship is less than one academic year. Occasional students should normally stay at the University for one or two semesters.

Entrance qualifications for occasional student’s admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course or equivalent are as described in the prospectus.

Students who stay at UDSM for more than one week and less than one semester are categorized as Visiting Students.

Both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students may apply for an exchange program at UDSM provided that the applicant’s University/College supports the application.

After spending semester or year at UDSM, grades will be transferred to their home institutions.
