Dr. Margareth Serapio Kyewalyanga is a Senior Lecturer and the Director at the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). She did her MSc. and PhD in Biological Oceanography at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, and graduate in 1991 and 1997, respectively. She has extensive sea-going and research experience; her research interests include Phytoplankton ecology and primary production of the marine environment; Physiological aspects of phytoplankton; interested in remote sensing and modeling of primary production; as well as monitoring of Harmful micro-algae in coastal waters. She also has good international and regional collaborations. For example, she is the Focal Point, representing Tanzania, in the IOC-UNESCO meetings; she is a member of the SCOR Capacity Development Committee; and she represents UDSM-IMS at many International and regional Fora. Dr Kyewalyanga is involved in several national, regional and international research; she is teaching undergraduate as well as post-graduate courses, as well as supervising theses and dissertations for post-graduate students.
