Dr Samora M. Andrew works as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Botany, College of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. He previously worked at Sokoine University of Agriculture (https://www.sua.ac.tz/ ) for 16 years serving at different capacities including Head of Department of Ecosystems and Conservation (https://www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz/ecosystems/ ) and Deputy Principal of the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism (https://www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz/ ). As a seasoned scientist He has professional experience of more than 13 years in ecosystems science and management fields including forestry, ecology, biodiversity, integrated natural resources management, climate change, biostatistics and research methods. His interest spans also on increasing landscapes’ productivity and profitability for sustainability. During the last 10 years Samora has bid, won and led 5 major projects, 8 consultancies and published 30 articles. Some of the research and development projects He has bid, won and led include baseline surveys, environmental flows, ecosystem services assessments, evaluation of policy implementation, analysis of nature based solutions, monitoring of forestry and beekeeping projects, development of strategies, agroforestry and ecological, biodiversity and forestry studies. Samora has also supervised successfully research projects to 45 BSc, 16 MSc. and 6 PhD students. He has not only regional but international exposure obtained through various successful professional engagements. He is a member of professional bodies including Tanzania Association of Foresters, Ecological Society of Eastern Africa and Tropical Biology Association. In addition, Samora serves as a Board Member at various Faculties of the Universities and beyond bringing in substantial experience of academics and industry.
