Dr. Lyatuu studied natural sciences at the University of Dar es Salaam, where he obtained his BSc in Chemistry and Microbiology (1999), before pursued further studies toward MSc Degree in Drug Chemistry at Newcastle University, UK (2003 -2004). He received DAAD scholarship and additional grant from Max Planck Institute and LOEWE-Zentrum für Synthetische Mikrobiologie in Marburg, Germany (2008 -2013) for doctoral studies under the mentorship of Professor Emeritus Wolfgang Buckel at the Laboratorium für Mikrobiologie, Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany and Professor Emeritus Bernard T. Golding, School of Natural Sciences –Chemistry, Newcastle University, UK. In February, 2013, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Biology with a thesis “Investigations into the mechanism of the coenzyme B12 dependent reaction catalyzed by glutamate mutase from Clostridium cochlearium”. Dr. Lyatuu has specialized in organic synthesis for biological targets, protein chemistry and enzymology. Since 2014, Dr. Lyatuu is a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, where he teaches and directing research projects in biochemistry, medicinal chemistry and organic chemistry.
