Donatha D. Tibuhwa (PhD) is Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MBB). Currently a Deputy Director Directorate of Postgraduate Studies of the University of Dar es Salaam. She holds an MSc and a PhD in microbiology, specializing on Mycology.
Her research interest revolves around mushroom taxonomy, Mushroom biotechnology for food, bioremediation, medical & ethno-mycology, fungal pathogens to food crops, as well as macrofungi biodiversity including other below ground biodiversity. Both conventional and molecular techniques are used in her research endeavors where different species of mushrooms and endophytic fungi from all habitats (miombo woodland, termites and rain forests), are collected, classified and examined for their biotechnological applications as related to general human livelihood. From these areas of research she has supervised a number of masters and PhD theses/Dissertations and published a number of papers in local and international journals
