Biography

Bigambohas been an Assistant Lecturer in department since 2013. He holds a BA and an MA (both in Archaeology) from the University of Dar es Salaam, obtained in 2011 and 2013 respectively. He is currently pursuing a PhD at Ironbrige International Institute for Cultural heritage, University of Birmingham. Bigambo’s research interest is understanding which material and immaterial aspects of the environment we value as heritage, why we value them as such, and the means we employ in ensuring their protection and survival.

Current Projects:

Bigambo’s current project is on assessing the Safeguarding Practices for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Tanzania, taking the Jita community as a case study.

  • An assessment of the post-analysis conservation practice for faunal materials in Tanzania: The case of the Univ. of Dar es Salaam, Antiquities Dept. and National Museum House of Culture. (Grant from The Palaeontological Scientific Trust (PAST), Johannesburg, South Africa).
