Building capacity for REDD+ in East Africa for Improved Ecosystem Health and for Sustainable Livelihoods in Eastern Africa (2014- 2018)
This is a five year project funded by the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED).The project is currently being implemented in Uganda and Tanzania by Makerere University (Uganda) in collaboration with the Centre for Climate Change Studies of the University of Dar es Salaam and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB). The main objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity for education and research on climate change and REDD+ at Makerere University and University of Dar es Salaam.
Project funds will be used to pay for Masters and PhD students’ university fees. Scholarships will be given to UDSM faculty members to pursue Masters and PhD programs. Recipients of the scholarships will have Funds will also be used to develop research infrastructures to create a conducive research and learning environment for the students.
