Shekha Hussein is an academic and communication expert. She holds a Master's in Mass Communication and a BA in Mass Communication from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Her experience includes working as an Information Officer in the Ministry of Health in 2009. She also worked with the Media Council of Tanzania in 2009, where she was involved in news writing and photographing for the Media Watch and Barazani, English and Kiswahili newspapers of the council. She was also involved in reviewing and monitoring media content for ethical considerations. She also served as Examination Officer of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication for seven years. 

Currently, she is an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication of the University of Dar es Salaam and Project Coordinator of the Yearbook on Media Quality in Tanzania. For over 14 years, she has taught undergraduate programmes, a Certificate and a Diploma in Journalism, regular and online classes. She mainly teaches the following courses: Mass Media and Society, Introduction to Mass Communication, Media Ethics, and International Mass Communication Systems.
