Dr. Hery Mwakayoka biography 

Hery Mwakayoka was born in 20^th may 1977 at Bugando Hospital located in Mwanza region in Tanzania. He is the last born among ten (10) children of Mwakayoka family. He was raised in Christian family. He got married to a beautiful wife in 2006 and blessed with two children.

He started his primary school education in 1986 at Bugoyi   primary school located in Shinyanga Tanzania then he completed his primary education in 1992 at Chato primary school in Kagera Tanzania. He was selected to join Nsumba secondary school in 1993 and completed in1996. He was then selected to join high level education at Shinyanga secondary school in 1997 and completed in 1999.  He was then selected to join Doctor of Dental Surgery at University of Dar es salam in 2000 and graduated in 2006 whereby he attended his internship at Mbeya zonal hospital for one year. In 2010 he pursued his master’s degree in community dentistry whereby he graduated in 2014.

Hery Mwakayoka has been working at Mbeya zonal hospital located in Mbeya Tanzania since 2007 to date; he has been working as dentist and was also nominated as a good worker in May Day 2008.  He was also appointed to be head of department in 2016 to date. He has been working in collaboration with Mbeya dental school of therapist located in Mbeya Tanzania since 2007 till today, in teaching, school programs and clinical studies. He has also volunteered working with MCW since 2015 to date together with Mbeya dental school involved in clinical supervision and school dental programs. He also teaches clinical studies at University of Dar es salaam Mbeya campus since 2018 to date. 

Hery Mwakayoka has been involved in research works and has managed to publish his work in 2017at Jornal of Dentistry (Shiraz) with a title ‘dental caries and associated factors in children aged 2-4 years old in Mbeya City, Tanzania’ (J Dent (Shiraz) 2017). In 2025 he also publishes at Tanzania Journal of Health Research with a title “Orofacial cleft patterns and risk factors among patients at Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital, Tanzania” A retrospective descriptive study.
